SELECTEE GUIDE

DS-260 Guide After DV Selection.

If you are selected, the DS-260 is the online immigrant visa application used for consular processing. Complete it carefully and only after reading official instructions. Also see our document checklist and interview preparation guide.

Current issuance status

The Department of State paused all diversity visa issuances on December 23, 2025. It says applicants may still submit visa applications and attend scheduled interviews, but no diversity visas are currently being issued.

Before You Start

  • Confirm selection only through the official Entrant Status Check website.
  • Review your case number and program year.
  • Gather passport, address, education, employment, family, and travel history details.
  • Prepare information for every derivative applicant included in the case.

Common Mistakes To Avoid

  • Submitting inconsistent names, dates, or marital details.
  • Forgetting previous addresses, employment, or education history.
  • Rushing the form without checking documents first.
  • Trusting paid agents who promise guaranteed visa approval.
Selection is not a visa guarantee.

DV selectees must still meet eligibility, document, medical, security, and interview requirements.
